  • Double murder conviction upheld on appeal in Louth Murder (double murder) · Co. Louth

Anthony Burnett, 31, and Joseph Redmond, 25, were shot in the head and their bodies set on fire in a car in County Louth on 7 March 2012 after going to sell Jason O'Driscoll a stolen car. O'Driscoll, 42, pleaded not guilty to both murders. A first jury in 2017 could not reach a verdict, and at a retrial in 2018 he was convicted by a ten-to-two majority and sentenced to life imprisonment. The Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal in May 2026, upholding the conviction.
