  Anthony Bracken, a 51 year old man, was convicted by a jury in January of assault causing harm on a former partner, a woman, at his home at Riverwell Close, Toberona, Dundalk, County Louth. The assault took place on 29 November 2018, after family members had asked the woman to leave the home that day. She was headbutted when she opened the door, had a cable placed around her neck, and was grabbed by the ears and dragged by the hair. Dundalk Circuit Court sentenced him, and the report published on 15 April 2025 gave the sentence as two and a half years with the final 15 months suspended, while its opening line says he was jailed for 15 months. He was also placed under Probation Service supervision for two years after release.
