  On October 1 at 12.20am, gardaí on patrol at John's Quay, Kilkenny, observed a male acting suspiciously, and Ante Hundric, a man, pulled a bag containing a white substance from his pocket and tried to throw it into the River Nore when told he would be searched. He was convicted at Kilkenny Court of obstructing a garda search by throwing a bag suspected to contain drugs into the river. Following a Probation Service assessment, he was sentenced to 200 hours of community service in lieu of four months' imprisonment, as reported on April 27, 2023.
