latest first- Gardaí submit supplementary file to DPP over fatal Creeslough explosion Fatal explosion (multiple fatalities) · Co. Donegal
An explosion at the Applegreen Service Station and adjacent apartment block in Creeslough, County Donegal, killed ten people on 7 October 2022, including five-year-old Shauna Flanagan Garwe and her Zambian father Robert Garwe, 14-year-old Leona Harper, 13-year-old James Monaghan and his mother Catherine O'Donnell, Jessica Gallagher, Martina Martin, James O'Flaherty, Martin McGill and Hugh Kelly. A gas leak in an apartment above the service station is widely suspected as the cause. Gardaí have detained seven people in the investigation, all released without charge, and submitted a primary file to the Director of Public Prosecutions in September 2025. A supplementary file with formal recommendations was submitted to the DPP in April 2026, and the investigation continues from Milford Garda Station.
