  Ann Murphy, a woman from St Michael's Court in Longford, was charged with stealing steak and wine worth €18.68 from Lidl on Dublin Road, Longford, on February 18, 2023. She was also charged with threatening or abusive behaviour at the ambulance station on Dublin Road on April 30, 2023. Her solicitor said she would plead guilty to all charges, and at Longford District Court before Judge Bernadette Owens she was given two consecutive two-month sentences, both suspended for 12 and 18 months, as reported in August 2023. She still faces eight other public intoxication charges and five other charges of theft, public order and failing to keep a court appointment.

  On 7 August 2022, 64-year-old woman Ann Murphy was arrested in the Townspark area of Longford after allegedly being found drunk and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour. She was charged with intoxication in public under section 4 and with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour. At her first court appearance before Longford District Court in September 2022, Murphy was not in attendance and Judge Bernadette Owens sanctioned a bench warrant. The case is due to appear back before Longford District Court over the coming weeks.
