latest first- High Court settles road traffic death case in Dublin Death (road traffic incident) · Co. Dublin
Ann Marie Beahan, 65, was hit by a refuse truck on Bulfin Road, Inchicore, Dublin, on 2 October 2018 while returning from her local shop, and died in hospital the following day on what would have been her 65th birthday. Her husband, Derek Beahan, brought a High Court action against the lorry owners, Green Circular Economy Unlimited Company, formerly Greyhound Recycling and Recovery Unlimited, alleging the driver failed to keep adequate lookout for pedestrians. The case was settled in June 2022 when the company admitted liability and an unreserved apology was read in court before Mr Justice Paul Coffey. A statutory mental distress payment of €35,000 was noted in the settlement, whose terms were confidential.
