latest first- Man jailed for manslaughter of fisherman in Dunmore East Manslaughter · Co. Waterford
Jack Power, a 25-year-old fisherman, was stabbed in the chest with a knife at Shanakiel, Dunmore East, Co Waterford on 26 July 2018 after entering the home of 17-year-old Dean Kerrie following a dispute over damage to Power's car wing mirror. Kerrie, now 21, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, pleading not guilty. His first trial in February 2022 ended in a hung jury, and at a retrial in July 2022 a jury found him not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. On 26 October 2022, Mr Justice Paul McDermott sentenced Kerrie to four years and six months with the final year suspended for two years, backdated to 30 June 2022.
