Anita Gallagher, 54, worked as a receptionist at Dr John Peters' practice in Clonee, Dublin 15, from 2001 until September 2019. She stole over €55,000 by taking the €60 private patient fee instead of adding it to the till, averaging €8,000 per year between 2013 and 2019. Dr Peters discovered the shortfall in 2019 and Gallagher resigned after a meeting; gardaí arrested her at her Blanchardstown home in June 2020. She pleaded guilty to eight sample charges of stealing from the practice at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 10 November 2021, and sentencing was adjourned to 17 November 2021.
