Richard Murphy, a 48-year-old man from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was convicted in October 2022 of raping and orally raping 16-year-old Angelique Schreuder, a girl, in the garden of a house next door to where he lived. He was on bail at the time for other sexual offences involving young girls, for which he has since been convicted. Following a Central Criminal Court trial sitting in Waterford in June, the jury returned guilty verdicts. On 20 July 2026, Murphy was sentenced to 11 years and six months consecutive to his current sentence for rape, with a concurrent eight-year sentence for oral rape.
