    Four young calves were killed in a dog attack on the farm of Irish farmers Patrick and Angela Prendergast at Tullamaine, near Callan, Kilkenny, in late June 2022. A Rottweiler and a Shepherd attacked the herd between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, killing three calves and fatally injuring a fourth. Mr Prendergast discovered the dead calves, rang the gardaí and a vet, and contacted the dogs' owner, who apologised. Both dogs were subsequently put down.
