Andrew Healy, a 45-year-old security guard, pleaded guilty to 16 counts of sexually assaulting his younger sister between 1992 and 2009 and to attempted rape at their family home in Ballingcollig, Co Cork. The abuse began when the girl was around four or five and Healy was 15, and the offending came to light in early 2017 when the victim reported it to Gardaí. In November 2022, Healy was sentenced to seven and a half years with the final year suspended, with conditions including Probation Service supervision and restrictions on contact with the victim.
