Cases
latest first- Two sentenced over false passport information in Dublin Providing false information to passport services · Co. Dublin
On 12 June 2019, Andrew Cash Senior (58) and Mary Cash (35) submitted a passport application at the Balbriggan Passport Services office in the name of Martin Connors, using photographs that belonged to Andrew Cash Junior. Passport office software identified the mismatch, and a senior garda's stamp on the documents led to a referral to gardaí, who discovered a relationship between the garda and Cash Senior. Mary Cash was arrested in November 2019, and both defendants pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to providing false or misleading information to Irish Passport Services. On 24 April 2026, Andrew Cash Senior was sentenced to three years with the final 12 months suspended (reported as two years in one account) and Mary Cash received a two-and-a-half-year sentence suspended in full, while Andrew Cash Junior remains wanted by gardaí and has fled the jurisdiction.
Sentenced, 30 Apr 2026Convicted · 3 reports - Mary Cash convicted of passport fraud in Sligo Passport fraud (false information to Passport Office) · Co. Sligo
Mary Cash, a 35-year-old woman, bought a copy of another person's birth certificate at the Sligo General Office to help her husband Andrew Cash Snr, 58, obtain an Irish passport in another name, with the application lodged at the Balbriggan Passport Office on 12 June 2019. Passport Office staff raised suspicions when the submitted photograph did not match, and internal investigations found the photograph matched Andrew Cash Jr, while calls from Andrew Cash Snr to the Garda Sergeant who stamped the application were also noted. Mary Cash pleaded guilty to a breach of Section 21A of the Passport Act 2008 at the Circuit Criminal Court, where the Garda Sergeant who stamped the application is also accused with a trial date set. Andrew Cash Jr has fled the jurisdiction, and sentencing for Mary Cash was adjourned to 24 April.
