On 7 October 2020, Andrea Booth, a 48-year-old woman, discharged a shotgun at her partner Patrick Healy at their log cabin home outside Nurney, Co Kildare, after discovering he was having an affair. Healy was hit by two shotgun pellets in the arm and treated in hospital before disarming Booth. She was charged with recklessly discharging a firearm and criminal damage, appeared at Naas District Court in May 2022, and the case was sent forward for trial in July 2022. In June 2023, Booth pleaded guilty at Naas Circuit Criminal Court and received a two-year prison sentence fully suspended on condition she be bound to the peace.
