Fourteen-year-old woman Ana Kriégel was lured to a derelict house in St Catherine's Park, Lucan, Dublin, in 2018, where 13-year-old Boy A beat her to death and sexually assaulted her. Boy B, also 13, lured Ana from her home under the guise of a romantic encounter and provided builder's tape used during the strangulation. Both boys were convicted of murder by a Central Criminal Court jury in June 2019, with Boy A also convicted of aggravated sexual assault involving serious violence. Boy A was sentenced to life imprisonment with a review after 12 years and eight years for the sexual assault, while Boy B received 15 years' detention with a review after eight years. Boy B, now 18, withdrew his appeal against his murder conviction at the Court of Appeal on 5 October 2022, and no appeal has been lodged on Boy A's behalf.

Fourteen-year-old schoolgirl Ana Kriégel was murdered at an abandoned farmhouse at Laraghcon, Clonee Road, Co Kildare, on 14 May 2018, after 13-year-old Boy B lured her there and 13-year-old Boy A attacked and killed her. Both boys were found guilty of murder by a Central Criminal Court jury in June 2019, and Boy A was also convicted of aggravated sexual assault involving serious violence. In November 2019, Mr Justice Paul McDermott sentenced Boy A to life imprisonment with a review after 12 years and eight years for the sexual assault, and Boy B to 15 years detention with a review after eight years. In July 2022, the Court of Appeal refused Boy B's application to introduce fresh evidence at his appeal, and the full appeal hearing was set for 5 October 2022.

Hazel Fitzpatrick, 25, a woman from Leixlip, Co Kildare, posted a screenshot on Facebook of a photo identifying Boy A, one of the juveniles convicted of the murder of 14-year-old woman Ana Kriégel in Lucan, Co Dublin, in May 2018. The post, made on or about 19 June 2019 the day after both juveniles were convicted, was in contravention of a court order under the Children's Act 2001. Gardaí attended her address in July 2019 and she was subsequently charged. Fitzpatrick pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 1 July 2021, and on 18 November 2021, Judge Karen O'Connor sentenced her to an eight-month suspended sentence.
