  • Man remanded on bail over assault and violent disorder in Dublin Assault causing harm · Co. Dublin

Qayyum Balogun, a 21-year-old Nigerian man and Maynooth University student from Dundalk, Co Louth, was fatally stabbed on Clarendon Street, Dublin, in the early hours of 1 June 2026 after a fight between groups following a gig at Bewley's on Grafton Street. A young woman with no connection to the victim was also stabbed in the leg during the initial incident. Joshua Brodericks, a 25-year-old Irish man from Galway, was charged with assault causing harm and two counts of violent disorder but is not accused of attacking Balogun; a woman in her 20s and a teenage boy were arrested and released without charge, and the chief suspect, an underground rapper from Cork, fled to the UK. Brodericks was granted bail at Dublin District Court on 5 June 2026, one assault charge was withdrawn on 12 June, and he was remanded on continuing bail on 18 September to await DPP directions.
