  Ali Hamisi (27), a man, was convicted at Portlaoise District Court of possessing drugs for personal use, with offences at French Church Street and at Tower Hill, Portlaoise on March 16, 2025. Gardaí said he was found with €10 and €20 worth of drugs, and a probation report rated him at very high risk of reoffending. He had 12 previous convictions for possession, and his barrister said he wanted a clean break from the courts rather than community service. On 5 May 2026 Judge Susan Fay imposed 50 hours of community service in lieu of two months in prison, ordered the drugs destroyed, and fixed recognisance in case of appeal.

  Ali Hamisi, a 24-year-old man, was accused of public order offences after approaching gardaí operating a checkpoint in Stradbally, Co Laois, and filming them. Gardaí said he became aggressive and then ran from them, and the offences were said to have taken place at Main Street, Stradbally on September 9, with no year given. He was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour, failing to comply with garda directions and obstruction, and he admitted committing public order offences. The case was remanded to Portlaoise District Court on December 14 for a probation and welfare report.
