    Alexandrs Baranovs of Mullingar, Westmeath was charged with driving at 120kph in a 100kph zone on 2 March 2021 at Kilsallagh, Edgeworthstown. The case was heard at Longford District Court in August 2022. Judge Bernadette Owens struck the charge out after the defendant's solicitor, Frank Gearty, pointed out that the speed detection van photo showed a clean-shaven man while Baranovs had a distinctive long beard. The defendant stated he was not driving on the date and had given permission to another man to drive the vehicle.
