  Five people were charged with dealing drugs valued at €13,000 or more allegedly found at a property on Anne Street, Newbridge, County Kildare, on April 24. The defendants are Alesandro Velardo, 34, a person; Jamie Doyle, 35, a person; Paul Molloy, 40, a person; Marisa O'Reilly, 32, a person; and Eanna Birchall, 28, a man. On July 20, four defendants appeared before a substitute judge at Naas District Court and were sent forward for trial, while a bench warrant was granted for Birchall, who was absent. On September 7, Birchall appeared at Naas District Court, the book of evidence was served, and he was sent forward for trial. The trial is set for the next sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court, starting October 3.

  On 31 May 2022, a man, Alesandro Velardo, 33, is accused of obstructing gardaí and throwing a package out of a window at his home in Loughlion, Kildare town. Gardaí found €2,464 worth of suspected crack cocaine and €6,097 worth of suspected diamorphine at the property, which they said were believed to be for the purpose of sale and supply. He was charged under Sections 21 and 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. At Naas District Court on 23 June 2022, the case was adjourned by Judge Desmond Zaidan to 1 December 2022 to allow time for a drug analysis certificate and directions from the DPP.
