  A major Garda operation targeting the sale and supply of heroin by an organised crime group in Cork City Centre was launched on 25 March 2025, resulting in the arrest of seven men at the Douglas Village Shopping Centre car park and other locations. Aleksandras Kuznecovas, 38, a Lithuanian man of no fixed abode, was charged in connection with the sale of €25 worth of diamorphine to undercover gardai on three occasions in January 2025, while Jonas Pavilionis, 46, a Lithuanian man of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of heroin worth €3,920, a machete, and two bill-hooks. The two men appeared at Cork District Court on 28 March 2025, where Judge Mary Dorgan denied them bail and remanded them in custody to 3 April. A woman in her 40s was arrested on 29 March and a man in his 30s is due to appear at Cork District Court on 31 March, with investigations ongoing.
