On 4 September 2020, a woman returned to her home in Bruree, Limerick, where her brother Patrick Stanton, 59, nephew Alec Stanton, 34, and niece Sarena Stanton, 32, were on her drive. Alec jumped on her car, Sarena dragged her out, and Sarena and Patrick kicked her on the ground, causing two cracked ribs, a T4 vertebrae fracture, and bruising. At Kilmallock Court before Judge Patricia Harney, all three pleaded not guilty and were found guilty of assault (Patrick and Sarena) and criminal damage (Alec). Patrick was sentenced to three months suspended for two years, Sarena to two weeks suspended for two years, and Alec was referred to the restorative justice programme.
