  On 30 June 2024, Alan O'Mahony, a garda most recently stationed at Letterkenny Garda Station, is alleged to have entered a building as a trespasser, damaged a duvet and a front-door handle, assaulted Joseph O'Donnell, and sent a grossly offensive communication at Wood Park, Lismonaghan, Letterkenny. The case was mentioned at Letterkenny District Court in January 2026 and adjourned twice. On 2 June 2026, Judge Emile Daly sent O'Mahony forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court on four charges, with a further section 2 assault charge to be added to the indictment at a later date. O'Mahony, who is suspended from the force, was remanded on bail with conditions including no contact with the alleged injured party or witnesses.
