Kevin Lunney, a 50-year-old man and director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, was abducted near his home in Co Fermanagh on 17 September 2019 and driven to a yard at Drumbrade, Ballinagh, Co Cavan, where he was stripped, doused in bleach, beaten, cut with a Stanley knife, had his leg broken with a wooden bat, and had the letters QIH scored into his chest. Alan Harte (44), Alan O'Brien (44), and Darren Redmond (31), all men from East Wall, Dublin, were convicted by the Special Criminal Court in November 2021 of false imprisonment and intentionally causing harm, while a fourth accused, Luke O'Reilly (68), a man from Kilcogy, Co Cavan, was acquitted. The three were sentenced in December 2021 to 30, 25, and 18 years' imprisonment respectively. The Court of Appeal dismissed their appeals against conviction on 13 January 2026, and the men plan to appeal their sentences, with that hearing listed for 13 February 2026.

On 19 December 2024, Garda Mark McCallon stopped Alan O'Brien at Park Avenue, Tullamore, County Offaly, after seeing him act suspiciously, and found him to have €80 worth of drugs. The sources give his age as 19 in one place and 41 in another, as stated by his solicitor. He appeared at Tullamore District Court, where he admitted the drugs were for his own use, and Judge Andrew Cody fined him €400 and gave him six months to pay, as reported on 3 June 2025.
