latest first- Man sentenced for oral rape and indecent assault of cousin in Dublin Oral rape · Co. Dublin
Darren Dowling, 48, of Jersey, UK, was found guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court on 12 July 2025 of eight counts of oral rape and three counts of indecent assault committed against his cousin Alan Murphy, aged between three and six, at a Clondalkin address between 1990 and 1993. Dowling, who was aged between 13 and 16 at the time, was sentenced to concurrent terms reduced from 13 and eight years to six and a half and four years because he was a juvenile, though the article reports concurrent sentences of five years (12 months suspended) and three years. The case was adjourned for a Supreme Court hearing on the naming of juvenile accused persons, and Dowling can now be named following that ruling. He was extradited from Jersey, where he has three previous convictions, and met with gardai voluntarily without contesting his extradition.
