    Alan McDaid, a 48-year-old Irish barman with an address in Alcudia, Majorca, Spain, is charged with defrauding Liberty Travel, an independent travel agency in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, of €4,637 for four hotel bookings. The charges relate to four dates in July and August 2017, when debit and credit cards belonging to two individuals were allegedly used to pay for accommodation in Santorini, Majorca and London, and the transactions were later charged back. McDaid appeared at Letterkenny District Court in July 2024, where the DPP directed summary disposal on a guilty plea only, but the defence says the case is contested. The latest development is that the case was adjourned to 14 October 2024 so that a book of evidence can be prepared.
