    Bryan Kennedy paid Alan Leech, a 38-year-old man from Churchtown, Dublin 14, €8,000 in January 2020 to arrange the murder of two women his wife had met online. When Kennedy failed to pay the outstanding €2,000, Leech sent threatening WhatsApp messages to Kennedy and his wife, including one threatening to carve Kennedy's throat. Leech pleaded guilty to demanding money with menaces on three occasions. Judge Orla Crowe jailed Leech for two years on 2 May 2023, reducing a headline sentence of three years due to mitigating factors including an early guilty plea and expressed remorse.
