On the evening of 28 June 2025, Gardaí seized cocaine with an estimated value of over €200,000, wrapped in three covered bricks, from the boot of a BMW at a residential property in Tuamgraney, Co Clare. Alan King, a 45-year-old father of two from Tuamgraney, was arrested and charged with possessing cocaine worth over €13,000 for sale or supply under Section 15a of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He pleaded guilty at Ennis Circuit Court in August 2026, where Judge Francis Comerford sentenced him to 48 months in prison with the final eight months suspended, giving credit for four months already served on remand.
