On Saturday 12 October 2024 at around 9pm, delivery rider Alan Jose de Lima (35), who is originally from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, was allegedly assaulted in Finglas, Dublin 11, about 100m from a house where he had made a food delivery. Two young men are alleged to have attacked him, breaking a bone in his leg, and stole his electric bike. He was admitted to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, spent six days there and had surgery on his tibia and knee. Gardaí said on 18 October that they were investigating an alleged assault and theft from a person in Finglas on 12 October and that investigations were ongoing. The latest report, from 25 October, says no arrests have been reported.
