latest first- Accountant charged over imitation gun at Grattan Bar, Inchicore, Dublin Unlawful possession of an imitation gun (Firearms Act offence) · Co. Dublin
Alan Hall, 44, a chartered accountant, was charged with a Firearms Act offence for unlawful possession of an imitation gun after pacing around the Grattan Bar in Inchicore, Dublin 8, with an imitation handgun tucked into his waistband on Saturday, 4 January 2025. He told gardaí it was a toy gun and also had a box of toy soldiers, claiming to have bought them in an unnamed city centre shop. He appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court on Monday, where Garda Leanne Butler objected to bail citing the seriousness of the case and possible witness interference. Judge Kelly granted conditional bail requiring a €500 deposit and a €1,000 independent surety, with conditions to stay away from the bar and remain contactable by phone, and he was remanded in custody with consent to bail pending a further appearance on Wednesday.
Charged, 6 Jan 2025Accused · 1 report - Dublin man avoids criminal record after public order incident involving gardaí Public order offences · Co. Dublin
Alan Hall, a 43-year-old man from Islandbridge, Dublin 8, was involved in a public order incident at about 5.30 am on 24 January 2023 at the Dublin Bus depot on Conyngham Road, after gardaí responded to a call about an aggressive man. After being cautioned to leave, Hall returned, lunged at gardaí while holding a pint glass, and was pepper-sprayed by officers. He pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to abusive and insulting behaviour and failing to comply with a garda's direction to leave the vicinity, and on 6 March 2024 Judge Treasa Kelly applied the Probation of Offenders Act after he agreed to donate €300 to charity, so he avoided a prison sentence and a criminal record.
Sentenced, 6 Mar 2024Convicted · 1 report - Arrest ordered for breach of injunction at Parkgate House, Dublin Contempt of court (breach of injunction) · Co. Dublin
Members of a group calling itself the Revolutionary Housing League allegedly illegally occupied Parkgate House in Dublin 8 from late August 2022, using the building to house homeless people and hold events. The building's owners, Davy Platform ICAV and Ruirside Developments, which plans to develop the site into 519 rental units, sought a High Court injunction against Seán Doyle, Alan Hall, Diarmuid Breatnach and all persons in occupation. Ms Justice Roberts granted the injunction on 15 September 2022, but the court heard on 20 September that the order had been flouted, with an event of over 200 people held at the premises. On 22 September 2022, Mr Justice Heslin found a flagrant breach of the injunction and directed that all persons in breach be arrested by the Garda and brought before the High Court, with the possibility of committal to Mountjoy Prison.
