  Alan Brennan, a 39-year-old man from Castlefin, Donegal, pleaded guilty to sample counts of rape, oral rape, sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a girl in her early teenage years on dates between 2019 and 2022. He groomed the victim using images he had of her, texted her requesting acts such as stripping, forced video calls, gave her alcohol, and threatened to make images of her public. Brennan was arrested and initially denied involvement before accepting the material on his phone, and the victim's preserved screenshots of their communications corroborated her account. Mr Justice David Keane sentenced him at the Central Criminal Court to 16 years' imprisonment, with the final year suspended on strict conditions including post-release supervision.

  Alan Brennan, a 36-year-old man from Tallanstown, was summoned for alleged dangerous driving at Rathbrist, Tallanstown and Louth Hall on 16 September 2019. The case came before Dundalk District Court in December 2021. Judge Eirinn McKiernan dismissed the case because the vehicle registration on the summonses was incorrect. The judge noted she would have amended the summonses at the State's request had it been made at an earlier stage.
