Two men burgled the apartment of Erol Ibrahim in Dooradoyle, Limerick City, on 21 January 2025, attacking him with a sword and an airgun while filming the assault, which went viral on social media. Gardaí arrested Darragh Manning (25) and Michael Sheehan (37), who were charged in October 2025 with aggravated burglary, threatening to kill, assault causing harm, and criminal damage. Manning pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court in June 2026, and in July 2026 Judge Colin Daly sentenced him to 10 years' imprisonment with the final 18 months suspended for nine years. Sheehan was remanded in custody to face trial on indictment.

Bryan Kennedy, a 35-year-old man from Harold's Cross, Dublin, is accused of soliciting the murders of two Canadian women, Stephanie Poirier and Clara Houdebrumette, between 1 October 2019 and 11 January 2020 after discovering his wife had been exchanging intimate messages with them online. He paid €8,000 to a man known as AL, who later blackmailed and threatened him and his family. Kennedy was charged in May 2022, pleaded guilty in July 2022, and was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court in January 2023 to five years' imprisonment with the final six months suspended for six months. He began serving his sentence on 17 April 2023 after the judge deferred custody to allow Tusla to arrange care for his children.
