Aidan Hall received a text message he believed was from Bank of Ireland and clicked a link that opened a page resembling his online banking page, after which three withdrawals totalling his funds were made from his account. The money was moved into another Irish bank account and then €13,100 was transferred to a third account. Adrian Stralynski, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering of €13,100 after Gardaí visited his home and he made admissions. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in April 2024, the judge imposed 18 months in prison, suspended in full for two years, noting his early guilty plea and young age as mitigating factors. A co-accused in the case has taken a trial date.
