  • Man charged with theft from Buncrana Garda Station Theft · Co. Donegal

Matthew Cassidy, 19, of Gransha Road, Buncrana, is charged with stealing a carry case containing six MEPRO checkpoint hi-visibility flashing beacons from Buncrana Garda Station on St Stephen's Day, 26 December 2023. The beacons, valued at €200, were the property of Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken. Cassidy's case was before Buncrana District Court on 11 January 2024, where his defence solicitor described the incident as more a prank than a theft. Judge Éiteáin Cunningham adjourned the case to 14 March 2024 to allow for disclosure to the defence.
