latest first- Gardaí seek extradition of murder suspect in Killarney Murder · Co. Kerry
Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old American woman, was found dead with serious head injuries in her bedroom at her home on Muckross Road in Killarney, Co Kerry, on 7 July 2026, after her 13-year-old daughter Michaela raised the alarm at around 1.20pm. The postmortem found the cause of death was asphyxiation. Ahmed Al Saqar, a 28-year-old Jordanian man who had been in a relationship with Carney, fled Ireland via Dublin Airport to Istanbul and then to Jordan in the early hours of 7 July and was arrested by Jordanian authorities around 10 July. Gardaí sent a file to the DPP recommending a murder charge and received directions to charge Al Saqar on 24 August 2026. Gardaí are now seeking his extradition from Jordan, where there is no formal bilateral extradition treaty with Ireland.
