An Algerian man was stabbed with a 12-inch kitchen knife at Rosie Hackett Bridge, Eden Quay, Dublin 1, at around 4.30pm on 2 June 2025, sustaining life-threatening slashing wounds to his stomach, back and legs that required emergency surgery. Adel Attal, a 32-year-old Algerian man, was arrested on Grafton Street and charged with assault causing harm and production of a knife as a weapon, and a second man in his 20s was also arrested and charged. Attal was refused bail at Dublin District Court on 4 June 2025, later pleaded guilty to causing serious harm at the Circuit Criminal Court, and was sentenced on 10 July 2026 to six and a half years' imprisonment. The co-accused, who first stabbed the victim in the stomach, remains before the courts.
