Adam Palmer (29), of Ballyhooleen, Ballinhassig, Co Cork, paid girls via Snapchat and PayPal for explicit images and videos, and the offences came to light in 2020 when the UK mother of a 14-year-old found her daughter had received payments from him. Gardaí searched his house under warrant and found that he had obtained 93 images and 90 videos sent to him by girls via Snapchat. Palmer pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to possession of child abuse images and using computer information technology for the purpose of sexual exploitation. On 22 February 2024 the judge jailed him for two years with the final year suspended, though one report says he was jailed for a year.
