On 15 July 2023 at Aura Leisure Centre in Tullamore, Co Offaly, Adam Dalton, a 37-year-old Midlands man, pushed a phone camera in a shampoo bottle under the wall of a changing cubicle to try to record an 11-year-old girl. Gardaí traced him to his Athlone home, where they found laptops containing child pornography. Dalton pleaded guilty to attempting to record an intimate image without consent and was convicted of possessing child pornography. On 25 June 2026 Judge Keenan Johnson at Tullamore Circuit Court imposed concurrent sentences, including a suspended year tied to conditions, and called for the maximum penalty for the offence to be raised to at least five years.
