Adam Corcoran, a 31-year-old Irish man, was found guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court in Cork of murdering his partner Daena Walsh, a 27-year-old Irish mother of two, at their apartment in Midleton, Co Cork, on 2 August 2024. Corcoran stabbed Walsh 25 times and set fire to the apartment, initially telling emergency services she had stabbed herself. He was arrested the same day, charged on 4 August, and pleaded not guilty to both murder and arson. Following an eight-day trial in March 2026, a jury unanimously convicted him and Judge Siobhán Lankford imposed a mandatory life sentence for the murder and a concurrent 15-year sentence for the arson.
