A man in his 40s, named Abdullah, was assaulted by a group of men while cycling to Dublin Mosque on South Circular Road in the Dolphin's Barn area at around 9.30pm on Sunday 3 April 2022. He was punched repeatedly in the face before the attackers fled when worshippers from the nearby mosque rushed to his aid. Abdullah, a member of the mosque's security team wearing traditional Islamic dress, was taken to St James's Hospital where he received stitches for a badly bruised and swollen face and was released the next morning. Gardaí launched an investigation, and the Islamic Foundation of Ireland condemned the attack, urging Muslims to travel to mosques in groups.
