A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by Abdul Rahman Mohammed, a 37-year-old man who was a security guard at Penneys, after she shoplifted a makeup brush and face mask at Dundrum Shopping Centre on December 4, 2022. Mohammed made the girl strip to her underwear, rubbed his hand on her thigh, and demanded €250 for the items. He was convicted by a jury of sexual assault, false imprisonment and demanding money with menace at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in February 2024 and jailed for five years. His appeal, arguing the judge erred in admitting hearsay evidence, was dismissed by Mr Justice Paul Burns in October 2026.

Abdul Rahman Mohammed (35), of Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1, a security guard at Penney's, was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at Penneys in Dundrum Shopping Centre on 4 December 2022, after she was stopped for shoplifting a face mask and make-up brush. He denied the offence. A jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court convicted him of sexual assault, false imprisonment and demanding money with menace in February 2024. Judge Orla Crowe adjourned the matter to 13 May 2024 and then sentenced him to five years in prison, backdated to February when he went into custody.
