On 10 June 2024, a man stood behind a woman in her late 20s on a crowded Luas tram between Busáras and The Point stops and deposited semen on her skirt as she travelled to the 3Arena for a Smashing Pumpkins concert. Abdiweli Ali, a 24-year-old Somali man working as a security guard, was identified through CCTV footage and a DNA match from the victim's skirt. He was arrested, denied the allegation for a year, and changed his plea shortly before trial. On 11 June 2025, Judge Gráinne Malone at Dublin District Court sentenced him to eight months' imprisonment, with the final two months suspended on condition he did not reoffend for two years.
