Gardaí searched the home of Aaron Walsh, a man aged 37 (reports differ, giving 34), at 3226 Maryville, Melitta Road, Kildare town, on 20 January 2023 and found cocaine with a street value of €4,200 (another report gives €4,000) along with €4,755 in cash and a small quantity of cannabis. Walsh was charged with possession of a drug for sale or supply. At Naas District Court on 2 February 2023, Judge Michéle Finan adjourned the case to 22 June 2023 for DPP directions and remanded Walsh on continuing bail. On 10 November 2023, Judge Desmond Zaidan sent Walsh forward for trial at Naas Circuit Court and granted him free legal aid.
