Young Dublin man jailed for four years over burglary and car thefts

Dylan Mills, a 32-year-old man from Ballymun, Dublin, is alleged to have broken into the home of an 80-year-old man who lives alone, and to have taken cars, including a white Mercedes taken from Summerfield Rise, Blanchardstown, on 30 December 2024. Mills was arrested within a number of hours of the break-in and charged the next day with criminal damage over a crashed Mercedes on the Holywell Link Road in Swords. He appeared before Judge Martin Nolan at the Circuit Criminal Court, where the defence said he had significant drug addiction issues. On 7 May 2026 the judge set five years for the global burglary counts with the final 12 months suspended, and Mills was jailed for four years, after warning him that sentences would increase if he kept offending.
