Woman's car seized and she was taken to garda station after insurance wrongly cancelled

Gardaí stopped a young woman from Longford on the M4 at Moneycooley, Maynooth, Co Kildare, on 5 July 2024. Her motor insurance policy had been cancelled in error by the insurer, Axa, and she was placed in a garda car, her car was seized and she was taken to a garda station. At Naas District Court her solicitor, David Powderly, said the cancellation was Axa's error, and the allegation against her was withdrawn with the judge telling her she had done nothing wrong, as reported on 25 and 26 March 2025.
