Case No. 1296Assault causing harm · Co. Dublin · 10 Feb 2022

Woman spared jail for assaulting sister-in-law and neighbour in Dublin

Claire Redmond, 26, a woman from Santry, Dublin, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm after two separate attacks in 2022: in February she kicked and punched her 35-year-old neighbour after passing her on an electric scooter, and in November she attacked her sister-in-law at the Post Office on Ballymun Road. Gardaí obtained CCTV evidence of both incidents. The case was heard at Dublin District Court before Judge Treasa Kelly, who applied the Probation of Offenders Act, sparing Redmond jail and a criminal record. The judge ordered €500 to be given to the sister-in-law and warned Redmond of a much harsher penalty if she appeared in court again. The neighbour, who was 35 at the time, has since passed away.
