Woman jailed for four years for storing €1.5m cannabis in Lucan, Dublin
Gardaí searched the home of 49-year-old woman Oana Onofrei on St Edmunds Grove in Lucan, Dublin, on 13 November 2025 after receiving information and observing a delivery, and found €1,556,000 worth of cannabis. Onofrei, who had no previous convictions, sublet a room to men for €1,000 a month to store and sort the cannabis, with the men using the Signal App to instruct her to deliver bags of drugs. She pleaded guilty to possession of the drugs for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. On 9 October 2026, Judge Martin Nolan sentenced her to four years in prison, backdated to November 2025, halving the headline eight-year sentence on the basis that she made little or no profit and was unlikely to reoffend.
