West Donegal man to face trial on 59 historic sex charges
A man in his 60s from west Donegal will go on trial over 59 alleged historical sexual offences, 20 of indecent assault and the others of sexual assault, which are alleged to have taken place at locations in County Donegal in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. A sergeant served him with the book of evidence at Letterkenny courthouse, and he appeared before Falcarragh District Court on a Wednesday morning, where Judge Éiteáin Cunningham ordered him returned for trial and he was granted bail on his own bond of 300. The DPP consented to him being sent forward for trial, and his case is listed for the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which begins on April 23, 2024. The man cannot be named under a publication order that protects the identity of the alleged victims.
