Case No. 4158Murder · Co. Dublin · 8 Jan 2026

Vigil held for murdered child Oisin Reddin as new details of father's threat and cash seizure emerge

On 8 January 2026, gardaí were called to a property in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot, Dublin, at about 8.30am and found Wayne O'Reilly, 48, an Irish man, dead in a shed. Gardaí then found the body of his son, Oisin Reddin, 12, at a house in Lindisfarne Grove, Clondalkin, about 15 minutes away. Gardaí suspect Wayne killed the boy by asphyxiation before taking his own life, and say they are not looking for anyone else; post-mortems have been completed but the results have not been released, and Wayne had been facing a minor drugs charge with a court date in March. On 11 January, hundreds of people attended a vigil in Clondalkin, and it emerged that Wayne had allegedly threatened to kill Oisin in October 2025 and had been caught with over €15,000 in cash suspected of being stolen from a west Dublin crime gang at a Limerick hotel.
