Two women given suspended sentences over Revolut scam
On the afternoon of 3 September 2023, a doctor in Dublin received a call from a person posing as a Revolut agent, who said her account was compromised and asked for access to her app. Transactions then moved €5,500 each into the accounts of Courtney Fitzpatrick, 26, and Leah York, 22, and the money was moved into a cryptocurrency account, costing the doctor €11,000. Both women pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to money laundering by possessing the proceeds of crime. On 31 March 2025 the court gave each woman a one-year sentence, suspended on condition that she pay €1,500 to the injured party within nine months.
