Two men plead guilty to affray over attack on Glenmore family home, Co Kilkenny
In the early hours of 29 August 2022, two men attacked the Duggan family in the front garden of their home in a rural area of Glenmore, Co Kilkenny, leaving the father, William Duggan, and his 21-year-old son, Joshua Duggan, with serious injuries. The two men are Patrick Connick, of Ballyvereen, Glenmore, and his brother-in-law James Newport, of Boher, Kilrane, Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford. Gardaí set up checkpoints after the Duggans raised the alarm, and Mr Connick and Mr Newport were arrested after their car was stopped. In August 2024 both men pleaded guilty to affray at Kilkenny Circuit Court, where the judge ordered the €11,000 already offered to be given to the Duggan family. The case was adjourned to the November sitting of the court, both men were remanded on continuing bail, and no sentence has been reported yet.
