Two men jailed for five years over Dublin city centre assault
Quham Babatunde, a 34-year-old Nigerian asylum seeker, was fatally stabbed on South Anne Street in Dublin city centre at around 3am on 15 February 2025 after a row broke out among revellers leaving a Valentine's night music event at Twenty Two Nightclub. His friend Adetola Adetuilehim was seriously injured in the violence, which spilled across Duke Lane and Dawson Street. Nine men were arrested in connection with the incident, and Ryan Ndede, 23, was charged with murder and is before the courts in Northern Ireland. In March 2026, Rory Carr and Bruno Tache were sentenced to three years and six months for assault and violent disorder, and in July 2026, John Eghomwanre and Faraj Odukoya were each sentenced to five years for the same offences.
